Charcoal, wood, 18K yellow gold, oxidized sterling silver
From out of self-made charcoal pieces, artist, Susanne Elstner seeks to create artistic visions that connect to the organic vivacity in nature. Here, she nearly sculpts the form of a fine piece of charcoal and wood. Together it's delightfully charred and distinctstructure appears to be chiseled to perfection. What lies beneath and in between the milky black crevices are lustrous strands of high karat gold. Every so delicately, their ends are adhered with golden granulations. Alike to sweet sea anemone which peer behind their lofty corners of the coral reef or playful flora playfully nestled against the coarsecomfort of a rock along the riverbed. Elstner illustrates a lively composition thatfits snug and appositeupon the body. Simultaneously, the maker masters biotic dynamism befitting any soul-stirring engagement.
